Key Stage 1 & 2

For this age group, the focus is often on building confidence in numeracy skills as well as general mathematics understanding.  I plan for sessions to cover three to four smaller learning objectives, with short games and activities designed to make learning enjoyable. All sessions emphasise learning and recalling mental arithmetic facts which in turn supports future mathematical learning.

I provide and use a wide range of supporting materials and resources.  We will often work using whiteboards as I find that helps children to be more confident and increase their learning potential.  I make games for the children to keep at home to practise between sessions at any point they want to.

If appropriate, I can offer support for children taking KS2 SAT tests by revisiting mathematical concepts, practising test questions and techniques including the mental arithmetic test.

I offer the option of a shorter lesson lasting 45 minutes for this age group at a pro rata charge.
